Knitting has always been my happy place, and I credit my knitting for helping me to make it through the first year of a global pandemic.
Ever since I learned to knit as a young child, it has been my constant companion. I started out knitting sweaters for my Barbie dolls. Then I started knitting really long scarves, and then hats when I learned how to work decreases. Eventually, I learned how to knit sweaters. Once I got the hang of it, I noticed that when I was knitting, I felt calm and at peace. As an introvert in a big, loud family, I often retreated to a quiet corner with a book or my knitting–and later when I learned to knit without looking, a book and my knitting.
